About classes

Join our small, friendly art classes in a calm studio in Athenry.

Whether you’ve never picked up a pencil before or you used to draw years ago and want to get back into it, this course is designed to help you build real skills and confidence in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Everything is provided — quality materials, paper, and all supplies. Just bring yourself and a willingness to enjoy the process.

Classes are kept small (maximum 8 people) so you get plenty of individual attention and guidance. Everyone learns at their own pace in our welcoming studio.

Each 6-week block is a new term in its own right, designed to give you a focused and structured learning journey in art. While each term stands on its own, students are warmly encouraged to continue from one term to the next, as the teaching builds gradually and deeper skills develop over time. This way, you can keep growing your practice step by step, while still having the flexibility to join at the beginning of any term.

Perfect for complete beginners and returning artists who want to improve gently.

Tanya is so lovely teacher and amazing artist. She has a fountain of knowledge and knows her craft so well! I have learned a lot from her in such a short time!

Really enjoyed the 6 week course and always looked forward to going to class. I learned a lot and feel a lot more comfortable trying to do art in my own time now that I understand the basics.

The Art class I did with Tanya was very fun and enjoyable. It was great to learn how many of the different items and techniques you can use to create a drawing or painting.

What You Will Learn?

Over 6 weeks you will learn the foundations of drawing and painting, including:

Observing and drawing accurately (still life, proportion, light & shadow)

Understanding colour, composition and simple techniques

Working with pencil, acrylics, watercolour and more

This class is designed to give you real understanding of how to see and build artwork, not just follow steps — you’ll develop solid skills you can continue using and growing with.
